Lake Cottage

Over the past few seasons, we have been piecing together this restoration of a lake cabin.
We started with new windows, doors, and trim to go along with the fresh paint on the exterior.
Inside, we modernized parts like insulating the ceilings, remodeling bath rooms, installed a complete new kitchen all while maintaining other parts of the cabin that stored so many memories and up north appeal. The finishing landscape touches and the homeowners personal influences have turned this into a beautiful lake cottage!

It has been a while since our last post, but we have been keeping busy. We have finished siding both the Lake Hubert renovation and the Thistle Hill home. Our time has been spent with smaller scale remodeling projects, new roofs, window replacements and garages. Thankfully, we are staying busy heading into spring!

Finishing Touches

We are nearly trimmed out on both the Hubert Lake and Thistle Hill projects. Our focus is getting these homes finished inside before we tackle the siding and other miscellaneous jobs. Hopefully the nice weather continues when we do get outdoors!

Lake Hubert Renovation

A new project started is an addition and renovation on Lake Hubert. The new wing includes a main entry, office, and sun room. The existing home will get a new face lift as well. New roof, windows, insulation, bathroom, laundry and flooring will give this family owned property a new chapter.

Where did summer go?

Summer has already pasts us by, hopefully we have a long fall in store. We have recently completed the Margret Lake addition which consisted of a theatre room with a large flat screen, custom surround sound, and custom theatre seating. Below, the basement was finished for a game room and outside we added on to the deck in order to connect with the game room.
Along with a few smaller projects, we have started a new home at the Thistle Hill British White Cattle farm. Three years ago, we built a small home on the property with the plan to someday add on and make it the customers permanent home. The new project will triple the size of the existing home.

We have come to the end of the project on Gull. It is bittersweet, it is always nice to come to the conclusion, but it was a lot of fun to work on this home. It has a lot of unique characteristics, like round cantilevered decks, spiral staircase with a fire pole, and a complete brick and stone exterior, all of which we will have pictures soon. We have also completed a cabin renovation on Gull and just started an addition to a home on Margret Lake, a home that we worked on recently.

Gull Lake Home

The new home on Gull Lake is near completion. All the trim on the interior is finished and the homeowners are settling in. The exterior is close. Two sides of the home are finished with stone and the other two sides are trimmed with stone but have brick covering the walls. The decks were finished with custom iron railings. We have also fit in a few other projects along the way that I will show soon. Happy memorial weekend!

Gull Lake Home

Spring is here, and we are ready. It has warmed up enough to start the rock masonry work on the exterior of the house. On the inside, we are in full trim mode. The approximately 4000 sq ft of tile is set. Hickory doors, casing and base are being finished and the hickory cabinets are awaiting their granite tops.

Gull Lake Home

The house is now closed in and just in time for the coldest part of the year. All though there is still much work to do in the outdoors (soffit, decks, exterior wall coverings, etc.), there is a lot happening inside out of the cold. Framing fireplaces, framing whirl pool tub decks, drywall, tile, and lots more. All of the unique characteristics of this home are starting to take shape!

Gull Lake Home

It has been a while since our last update, but we have been able to stay busy. We have done a little of everything this fall; a garage, a deck, a patio, hot tub house, re roofs, small lake cabin updates, etc. Small projects that we are grateful for in this economy. We have just recently started a new home on Gull Lake that will have a lot of personality. It will be very exciting to show all the custom touches the homeowner has included!

Stony Point Remodel

A few new touches to a very quaint home is a project that we have been tinkering with this summer that overlooks Stony Brook. New kitchen cabinetry, appliances, floors along with a fresh coat of paint blend the old with the new inside. Outside, we framed a new roof system, installed new windows and covered everything with new siding and shakes.

Love Lake Addition

We have recently had the privilege of starting a new project on Love Lake that is fun and challenging. On the lake side of the home, we removed a screen porch that was accessed from the living room. The new addition will add 450 sq ft of floor space to enjoy the lake view. The interesting part is the timber framed vaulted ceiling that will match the existing to create an even larger great room.

Margret Lake Remodel

We just recently finished the remodel project on Margret Lake. It is quite a change from the house we started out with. The interior of the house was taken back to the framing and started from scratch with a new kitchen, bath, fireplace, wood ceiling and floors, log railings and accents. The attached garage roof was taken off to add a bedroom, bathroom, laundry, and a master suite, all now part of the main house. Outside, we added a great new log entry way, two dormers facing the lake, and finished everything with log and cedar shake. The decks also received a new look with new cedar boards and a log post and rail system with clear glass spindles. It's actually not fair to call it a remodel project when it's a brand new home!

It's finally a little more enjoyable to be working outside again. We have started to finish the outside of the home with the cedar shakes and log siding. The inside of the home is starting be put back together. Insulating is complete and the drywall stage is starting. Soon we will have a completely new look to this preexisting home!

Pelican Lake Home

Here are a few pictures of a home that we started last fall and finished recently. The five bedroom, three and a half bath home has a great view through the large great room windows of Pelican Lake on the southeast shore. Beautifully stained pine and ruby birch flooring accent the main room of the house, and a custom hickory kitchen highlight the home. The sharp maintenance free exterior has the up north cabin feel. It is a very economical home to build with so much room and features.

Back on track

After a lengthy little glitch, we are back blogging. I won't recap what we have been up to since July, we will just start fresh. We started a remodeling project on Margret Lake this fall. The inside of the home has been completely gutted down to the framing and a new entry area will be added. We removed the roof of the attached garage, put on a floor system. and framed more living space that will be accessible from the house. With a little luck with the weather, we'll have it weather tight in no time.

The peak of summer is here and what perfect weather it has been to work in. Our main focus has been finishing the new home on Margret Lake. The inside of the home has been completed, and only a couple of details remain on the outside. The timing was just right to have an open house this weekend. Soon I will have more pictures of the finished home, until then enjoy the weekend.

Rainy Days

One good thing about rain filled stretches like this is we are recovering from our drought of last summer. It has worked out well for us, luckily we have been able to be inside. We have all been concentrating on the Margret Lake home. The pine paneling on the ceiling and front wall has been completed, doors have been hung and trimmed along with the windows. Ceramic tile is being set and the kitchen cabinets are being arranged. Soon the electrical and plumbing trim outs will start. During the lulls in the rain, we have managed to finish the siding and build an entry on the outside of the house. We also began framing the garage and set the room and attic trusses.

The completion of the interior of the home on Gull is here! It is awesome to watch all the finishing touches come together after months of planning, organizing, scheduling, and not to mention old fashioned labor. Interior wood work, check. Fireplace, check. Floor coverings, check. Cabinets, check. All mechanical (plumbing, heating, sound and electrical), check. ENJOY.
I will get into details on everything with some finishing pictures later. As far as the exterior is concerned, we will be back to finish that in a few weeks, we first are going to concentrate on finishing the home on Margret. Painting has been completed as we are outside working on the siding and soon we will be inside paneling the vaulted ceiling.

I have finally taken the winter gear out of the truck and replaced it with sunscreen.
And now that the weather is nice, we have started to work inside. Never fails. Since I last posted, the Gull lake home as been sheet rocked, taped, and painted. We just began finishing the entry ceiling and the large vaulted ceiling with tongue and groove pine paneling. The 6 inch boards have a beautiful clear finish. As we are starting that, the Margret lake home has been roughed in by the subs, and is in the sheetrock stage. Both projects are coming along quickly!

SPRING?

That's what I get for saying spring is over. As I am writing this we are under a winter storm warning. On the bright side, days like this are good for doing things like posting a blog. On the Margret Lake home, we finished the roof and installed the windows. From the lake looking up, the walkout home looks awesomely tall. From the inside looking out, the tall windows of the great room will have a great view of the sunset towards the southwest. The new home on Gull has been insulated with a "blown blanket" system that really tightens everything up. Also there has been sound proof insulation installed on the interior walls. The good news despite the snow, I can see open water on the channel out the great room widows on Gull!

SPRING!!!

It is finally here! After two snowstorms came to ensure we don't take spring for granted, it is finally here to stay. Fortunately we have been to busy to get too much cabin fever. Our remodeling projects are in the final clean-up stage. The new home on Gull Lake is framed inside and the subcontractors are roughing in the plumbing, HVAC, and the electrical. The next step will be to insulate and start the drywall. Meanwhile, we began a new home on Margret Lake, also on the Gull chain. The exterior is framed and the roof trusses are set. It won't be long and the house will be water tight. The homeowner has the property for sale, so feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Kitchen and Bath Remodel

Our remodeling project is nearing completion. The new cabinets are made of hickory and have walnut inserts, complemanting each other beautifully. The tile in both bathrooms update the rooms and the showers with class and cleanness. The before and after pictures are always fun to see. The new home on Gull now has windows and wind wash barrier (Tyvek). The next step will be to finish framming the interior and have things ready for the subcontractors.

After losing a hand full of cold days over the past few weeks, we are started to see the finish line on the roof. We have been lucky, however not getting a lot of snow on the roof. It always seem like a milestone to finish a roof system, the rest falls into place. One of the remodeling projects is near completion, and floor tile is being set on the other. We are thinking spring, and hopefully soon the photos will start to show that!

The past couple of weeks have been busy. Other than a couple of cold days, we have countinued to frame the new home on Gull. All of the roof trusses have been set, and our priority is to finish the roof system before we continue to frame the interior. Our remodeling projects are showing progress and I will soon have a better update and some new pictures.

Our two remodeling jobs are continuing with progress. The subfloors are being prepared for the new coverings, plumbing is being installed where needed, and the needed electrical changes have been made. In the mean time, a few of us have started framing on a new house on Gull. The masonry was finished last fall just before freeze-up. We shoveled the snow and removed the blankets to uncover the dry slab. As you can see we are just getting started on the framing. The new lake home will really begin to take shape these next couple of weeks!

West Side Gull Remodel Project

This is a kitchen and bath remodel project that we have recently started. It also is an gull, but on the west side of the lake, so maybe we will title this as "West side gull remodel project." As you can see in the pictures, we are in the begining stages. The old cabinetry, tops and appliances have been removed. The floor is also scheduled to be redone. In the last pictures, you can see our tile expert prepaing the floor for the new tile. The right preperation for tile, like most projects, will make the finished product perfect!

Welcome to Rasinski Construction's "first" blog. This happens to be the first job that we will be able to show and tell you about. We are in the beginning stages. The cabinets & counter tops have been removed, the next step will be to measure for the new custom cabinets. The downstairs bathroom has been completely gutted and the plumbing and electrical are being rearranged for a completely new bathroom layout. The upstairs bathroom is getting a new tile shower and a new whirlpool deck. In which both old shower and deck are removed and are awaiting for the new tile to be put down. The photos are the old bathrooms and kitchen and what they look like stripped...soon we will have updated pictures of the progress. Stay tuned!
